Welcome to my guide to Heathrow Airport! – As one of the busiest airports in the world, it can be overwhelming to navigate through the various levels and terminals. But don’t worry, I’m here to provide you with a comprehensive overview of everything you need to know. Let’s start with parking. Heathrow airport has several car parks, ranging from short-stay to long-stay options. If you’re dropping someone off or picking them up, the short-stay car park is the most convenient option. If you’re traveling for an extended period, the long-stay car park is the way to go. Next up, private cars and Uber terminals. Private cars can drop off passengers at the departures level, while Uber pick-ups are located at designated pick-up points at each terminal. Make sure to check the Heathrow website for specific pick-up locations.

Let’s get familiar with different Terminals. London Heathrow Airport has four Terminals – 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Terminal 2 also known as “the Queen’s Terminal”, mostly European flights are operating from this terminal and it hosts Star Alliance Airlines and Aer Lingus. Terminal 2 has direct access to parking lot through elevator that is around 15 to 20 mins walk from the security. Flight departure check-in counter is at level 5, one needs to do Self-service check-in that is available in kiosks located near the standard check-in desks. Whereas, flight arrivals are located on level1 along with the Baggage reclaim section.
Lounges at Terminal 2 – Plaza Premium Lounge is perfect place to refresh before take-off. One can book Plaza premium maximum for 3 hours and get an access to food and drinks, unlimited WIFI, shower facilities etc. However, one can also access airline lounge through their credit card companies. Some of the airline lounges at Terminal 2 are Singapore Airline Lounge also known as ‘SilverKris’, Lufthansa Business and Senator Lounge and United Club Lounge, located in Terminal 2B.

Terminal 3 is UK’s first moving walkway, operates long-haul flights and some European destination flights, mainly Oneworld airlines , Emirates and Virgin Atlantic flights operates from Terminal 3. Check-in counter is located on the ground floor where one can check-in through airline counter or the kiosks located at the airport. It is advisable to do self-check-in and print your boarding pass through Kiosks or online to save plenty of time. Once the check-in is completed, passenger can move to first floor for flight departure. The north end of the building on the ground floor is where Arrivals is located.
Lounges at Terminal 3 – Some of the Lounge facility that passenger can avail for with bare minimum charges at Terminal 3 are Club Aspire and No. 1 Lounges where complimentary food and drinks are available with relaxing environment with excellent runway views providing facilities of unlimited Wi-Fi, digital reading material. Furthermore, there are other 10 airline lounges and that makes Terminal 3 having the highest no. of lounges at any airport world-wide. Most of the lounges of Terminal 3 is located near the gates, at the end of the shopping area.

  • American Express Centurion Lounge – One who has Amex Platinum or Centurion card can access ‘The Centurion Lounge’. Moreover passenger who has ‘Delta Reserve Sky Miles’ card in US can also access the lounge.
 
  • AA Admirals Club also known as American Airlines Admirals Club – This Lounge facility can be availed by any passengers flying Business Class or First Class tickets with Oneworld carrier that includes American Airlines, British Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia Qantas. You can bring one guest traveling by same flight in economy class. Passenger holding British Airways Club Silver card can also access the lounge even if you’re flying economy class.
 
  • American Airlines First Class Lounge – Passenger travelling Business Class or First Class with Oneworld carrier along with those who holds British Airways Executive Club Gold, traveling in economy class can access the American Airlines First Class Lounge. All the First Class Lounge is designated as ‘Lounge H’ after exiting the security of Terminal 3.
 
  • British Airways Galleries First Lounge –Passengers flying on first class ticket with any Oneworld carrier such as American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas can access the British Airways Galleries First Lounge. Moreover, Passengers who are British Executive Club Gold member flying in economy class can access the lounge facility.
 
  • British Airways Galleries Club Lounge – The lounge is accessible by passengers travelling in Business Class tickets with any Oneworld Carrier or is a member of British Executive Club Silver or Gold. One can find Galleries Club and Galleries First lounges between the main terminal concourse and shops and gates 13-22. Both Galleries Club and First Lounges are designated by letter ‘F’ when you exit security.
 
  • Cathay Pacific Business & Cathay First Class Lounge – Passengers travelling on Business class or First class ticket with Oneworld carrier can access the First Class lounge and Business lounge. Similarly, British Executive Club Gold member can access the First class lounge. However, British Executive Club Silver member can access Business class lounge. The Cathay Pacific lounges are designated as ‘Lounge C’ when you exit security.
 
  • Emirates Lounge – Passenger flying in First class or Business class with Emirates or Qantas can access the Emirates lounge. However, Emirates Skyward Gold member traveling in economy class can enjoy the access of first class lounge whereas silver member can access the Business class lounge facilities. Passenger can directly board the Emirates flight from the lounge which is one of the defining feature of this lounge.
 
  • Qantas Lounge – All passengers flying in First Class or Business class with Oneworld carrier, British Airways Executive Club Gold and Silver member, traveling in economy class and Emirates First and Business Class can enjoy the access of Qantas lounge. The Qantas lounge is designated as ‘Lounge B’ after exiting the security.
 
  • Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Lounge – Passengers flying in First class or Business ticket with Virgin Atlantic, Delta, Air France and KLM and Flying Gold member can access the lounge. However, they can bring one guest along with them. It is designated by ‘Lounge H’ just next to AA Admiral Club is located.

Terminal 4 – Heathrow Terminal 4 is mainly for long-haul and European destination flights and is used by Skyteam alliance airlines. The Check-in counter, flight Departure and short – term car park all on the first floor, same level giving direct access to the passengers. Whereas, Flight Arrivals are located on the ground floor of the terminal. Kiosks located near the standard check-in desks for passengers to use and print the baggage tag and boarding pass.
Lounges at Terminal 4 – Some of the Lounges facilities at Terminal 4. Enjoy spacious and peaceful atmosphere at Blush Lounge and Plaza Premium lounge operated by Plaza Premium located in Terminal 4 departure area. Passenger flying EL AL Business class or member of EL AL Platinum, EL AL King David Club, Priority Pass holders, Dragon Pass holders can access the lounge. However, one can pay £44 for two hours and enjoy the access of the lounge.

Terminal 5 – It is used exclusively by British Airways and Iberia and provides a huge range of facilities for travellers, including restaurants, shops, hotels, car hire services, business services, parking and bureaux de change facilities. All Check-in counters are located on the top floor. Departures Level 2 (Gates A1-A23) has 12 information points. In addition Terminal 5C Departures (Gates C52-C66) has 10 information points. While the Arrivals is on the ground floor. Terminal 5 parking consists of a long stay cark park located on Northern Perimeter Road and a short stay car park, which is located right next to the terminal. Heathrow Business Car Parks are located closer than the long stay car parks, and one of these is available exclusively for passengers travelling through Terminal 5. Cash machine / ATM’s are located in every level of Terminal 5.
Lounges at Terminal 5 – British Airways operates from Heathrow T5 and has one of the world’s largest airline lounge complexes  at the terminal.  There are 6 BA lounges  at the T5 terminal and in total, there are 9 Lounges at Terminal 5.

  • Elizabeth line or Free Heathrow Express connects Terminal 2 and 3 to Heathrow Terminal 4 and 5. Free Inter-terminal tickets are available from ticket machine at the station. Average time between Heathrow Central (terminal 2 and 3) to Terminal 4 takes around 20 minutes.
  • Underground Tube services run from Heathrow 2 and 3 to Terminal 4 & 5.
  •  One can walk in between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 through accessible underground passageway. Average walking time is 10 minutes.
  • From Terminal 4 to Terminal 5, one can board free Heathrow Express or Elizabeth Line trains run from Heathrow Terminal 4 to Heathrow Terminal 5 (change at Terminals 2 & 3) that takes around 30 minutes.
  • Free Shuttle bus H30 local bus runs every 20 minutes from Terminal 4 to Terminal 5 and takes around 40 minutes.
Transfers between the Terminals.To connect to the Tubes, Heathrow has its own tube station located within the airport. Follow the signs to the station and purchase your ticket from one of the machines or ticket booths.
